Title

Of Nymphs and Pans and ... a StubbyDub ? - The story of 'RAB'; Childrens' Illustrator and Etcher (Softcover)

Synopsis

A biography of the life and work of Rachel Cassels Brown (1875-1953), artist, children's illustrator, etcher and arts and crafts media designer. Included are many illustrations of the various areas of her surviving work from a career that was prematurely curtailed through failing eyesight

Although she came from a strict Scottish Presbyterian family, they had the foresight to allow her to go to Paris for her training - at a time when the late Impressionists were at their height. However, it was the Art Nouveau movement that influenced her greatly and she had the opportunity to work briefly with the Glasgow Macdonald sisters in Liverpool. Latterly, she devoted her time to developing her etching skills and produced some fine impressions of both landscapes and allegorical subjects

100 pages with 53 full colour and 13 black and white illustrations.  8.5" x 8.5" x 0.4".  Hard cover, full-colour laminated, with dustcover
