A full page coloured illustration from 'The Land of Nod'.
This extraordinary illustration depicts another of Rachel's fantastic mythical creations - this time appearing in the dream that is the storyline of the book – to the evident delight of the little boy.
Without any extant detailed account of the storyline, the explanation of the scene is obscure. But whereas 'Annabella' and 'The StubbyDub' are largely modelled around Rachel's daughter, Jean, 'The land of Nod' is dedicated to her son, David, upon whom the small boy in the story is also clearly modelled.
